Workplace Health and Safety Business Partner

Location: Blaina, NP13 3JW

Salary: £43,000 per annum

The Role

The organisation are looking for a Workplace Health and Safety Business Partner to join their Health, Safety and Compliance team. In this key role, you'll be responsible for leading the development and delivery of workplace health, safety, and compliance procedures, ensuring that the highest standards are met across the business. You'll collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure the effective management of health and safety projects, training, and risk mitigation strategies.

You'll act as a subject matter expert, assisting with the design and delivery of bespoke training, coordinating projects to meet timelines and service level agreements, and keeping the team updated on changes in health and safety legislation. You'll also support the development and review of policies and ensure actions from audits and investigations are followed through to completion.

Working across the business, you'll help reduce incidents, implement lessons learned, and drive a culture of safety and compliance. With responsibility for managing contracts and supporting procurement, you'll ensure that they meets all legal obligations and delivers safe, compliant services for their tenants, employees, and the wider community.

For a more detailed overview of what you will be doing, their Workplace Health and Safety Business Partner will take ownership of:

* To act as a subject matter expert taking the lead role in developing Workplace Health, Safety and Compliance and related procedures.

* Coordinate, maintain and report on project plans for all projects supporting, ensuring project timelines and deliverables are met in line with SLA's (Service-level Agreements).

* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes to legislation, with due consideration of the impact of these changes on the organisation.

* Assist with the design of bespoke training for employees and oversee and support it's delivery

* Attend health and safety committee meetings, where necessary.

* Assist in the development and review of policies and procedures to timescale.

* Ensure any actions arising from audits, investigations, reviews, and monitoring are followed up to completion.

* Work proactively with colleagues across the business to manage risks, minimise incidents, and ensure that lessons learnt are fully and properly embedded.

* Ensure effective contract and project management systems are in place, including maintaining a robust set of standard contract documentation.

* Work closely with the centralised procurement team to ensure effective procurement of work programmes.

* Ensure that the organisation acts appropriately and responsibly and meets all legal obligations and service standards for planning and delivery activities.

Skills and Qualifications

You will need to have the following knowledge, experience and qualifications:

* NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or NVQ Level 5 in Occupational Health and Safety

* Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), minimum of CertIOSH and working towards CMIOSH or other relevant professional body

* In-depth understanding of health and safety legislation, Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) and guidance and its practical application

* Organised, adaptable and able to deal with conflicting priorities and busy workload

* Knowledge of leasehold requirements, engagement, consultations

* Previous experience in management within a similar environment and responsibility for the delivery of elements of a workplace health and safety strategy

* Experience in developing and delivering integrated programmes and projects to include improvements, cyclical, planned and/or development activities

* Experience of procurement processes and procedures and contract management

* Proven ability to work with others to build on relationships to motivate and achieve good performance

* Experience in the development and delivery of training programmes

* Experience in legal compliance and risk management in health and safety
