We're Hiring: Substance Misuse Nurse Manager / Non-Medical Prescriber

Are you a passionate and experienced nurse with a commitment to supporting individuals on their recovery journey? We are looking for a Substance Misuse Nurse Manager to lead our dedicated clinical team and make a real difference in the lives of those affected by substance use.

About the Role:

As the Substance Misuse Nurse Manager , you will oversee the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care to individuals with substance use issues. This is a leadership position with a hands-on clinical component, requiring both strategic oversight and compassionate patient care. Part of your role will also include you to independently assess, diagnose, and prescribe appropriate medications to support recovery, including substitute prescribing and detox regimes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

* Managing and supporting a team of nurses and healthcare professionals

* Leading the assessment, planning, and delivery of care for service users

* Ensuring compliance with CQC standards and clinical governance frameworks

* Coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and external partners

* Driving continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery

* Supporting professional development through training and supervision

* Conduct comprehensive assessments of service users' physical and mental health.

* Prescribe and review medication related to substance misuse, including opioid substitution therapy and alcohol detoxification.

* Monitor treatment effectiveness, adherence, and safety, making timely clinical decisions to adjust treatment plans.

* Provide harm reduction advice and support for safer use, including naloxone distribution.

* Liaise closely with GPs, mental health professionals, social workers, and other partners to deliver coordinated care.

* Support service users with co-occurring mental health or physical health conditions.

* Contribute to service development, quality assurance, and audits.

What we're Looking For:

To thrive in this role, you will need:

* A registered nursing qualification (RMN/RGN/RNLD) with current NMC registration.

* Have completed an Independent Prescribing Qualification (Non-Medical Prescriber).

* Substantial experience working in substance misuse or mental health settings.

* Strong leadership and team management skills.

* A deep understanding of harm reduction, safeguarding, and recovery-focused care.

* The ability to inspire, motivate and lead by example.

* Excellent communication and decision-making abilities.
