Principal Planner

Fulham, London

Penguin Recruitment is proud to be working with a well-established and respected planning consultancy based in Fulham. This firm specialises in delivering tailored planning advice on a wide range of commercial schemes across the UK - from small-scale developments to nationally significant projects.

With a strong pipeline of new and ongoing work, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Principal Planner to join their growing team and provide essential support across the preparation, submission, and management of planning applications.

This is a great opportunity for a commercially minded and detail-driven planner who enjoys working across diverse schemes and wants to play a key role in a tight-knit, collaborative team.

The Role

As Principal Planner, your core responsibilities will include:

* Leading and supporting the preparation and submission of planning applications

* Advising clients on development management matters and planning strategy

* Making representations to Local Plans and engaging with local planning authorities

* Working across a range of commercial projects, from smaller site applications to larger, more complex schemes

* Collaborating with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to progress projects effectively

* Helping manage and mentor junior team members where appropriate

This is an office-based role in Fulham, with flexible salary depending on experience.

About You

We are looking for candidates who:

* Have solid experience in town planning, ideally within a consultancy or private sector setting

* Possess a sound knowledge of the UK planning system, with a strong focus on development management

* Are comfortable preparing planning applications, policy representations and liaising with local authorities

* Are proactive, organised, and confident working independently or as part of a small team

* MRTPI chartership is desirable, but strong candidates working towards it will also be considered

If you're an experienced planner looking to step into a role with real variety and visibility in the commercial development space, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit consultancy working on projects across the country.
