About the Role

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you'll be part of a supportive and passionate team helping young people overcome emotional, behavioural, and mental health challenges. You'll work closely with both students and staff to create a nurturing, trauma-informed learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH needs

* Help implement personalised behaviour and emotional support plans

* Encourage positive coping strategies, confidence, and emotional regulation

* Support classroom inclusion and engagement for all students

* Liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies to monitor progres

* Contribute to a school-wide ethos of care, structure, and mental wellbeing

What We're Looking For

* Experience as a SEMH Teaching Assistant or background in supporting vulnerable children

* Psychology, Criminology, or related degree preferred

* A passion for mental health, inclusion, and making a lasting impact

* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively

* Emotional resilience, empathy, and patience in challenging situations

* Ability to commute to Stevenage

* A commitment to long-term development in education or therapeutic work
