Insurance and Claims Officer

Job Type : Full Time, Permanent

Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne

Salary : £26,873 - £28,770 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

The Role

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join their dedicated team, supporting the delivery of their insurance services. This is an excellent opportunity to progress your career within the Insurance field.

Key Responsibilities

* With a professional and customer focused approach, you will handle and defend insurance claims made against the council.

* The role is full of variety, and you will have the opportunity to work on a mixed portfolio of claims.

* You will process and monitor internal and external claims so that deadlines are met, and any resulting queries / rejections are resolved in a timely manner.

* You will engage with claimants and their solicitors, using tact and diplomacy when dealing with difficult or sensitive claims.

* You will help them ensure that their robust systems and data is well maintained, so that their claims handling is effectively supported.

Skills and Qualifications

* Experience of Insurance claim handling

* An understanding of the principles of insurance and risk.

* A high standard of literacy and numeracy.

* Experience of extracting, collating, analysing, and presenting data.

* Experience of working to deadlines and having to prioritise work.

* Experience and competence in using IT and common business support packages including Word processing and Excel spreadsheets.

* Insurance qualification would be desirable but not essential.
