Fabrication / Welder

Our client is a well-established and expanding manufacturing company based in Birmingham and due to their current projected growth, they are now looking to recruit for the position of Fabrication / Welder.
The successful applicant will be based at the production facility in Birmingham city centre.
The Role
Reporting to the Production Manager as part of the Fabrication / Welder team, your responsibilities will be preparation and welding of mild steel, Aluminium, Stainless steel, thicknesses of material will range from 1mm - 10mm.
Your duties will include but not be limited to the following;
* Fabrication of Mild steel, Stainless-steel & Aluminium components as required ensuring that the highest standards in finish and tolerances, in accordance with information supplied, are achieved using sound "trade" methods.
- 2 and approved to weld Butt, Fillet and plug.
* Weld components and framework using a TIG & MIG welding processes.
* Position align and fit parts according to specifications.
* Grind, sand, polish and detail fabrications to required finish using hand and power tools to a high standard.
* Measure and examine completed work to verify conformance to specifications.
* All Fabrications tasks are to be completed in the agreed (quoted) time frames or better.
* Operation of manual machine tools, as part of the fabrication process when required.
* Machines to be kept in a tidy and well-maintained manner, which would require maintenance be undertaken from time to time.
* Ensure that the supply of consumables, i.e. gas, welding wire etc. does not run which could affect the job.
* Work with the Manager to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
* Maintains tools, gauges and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
* Display flexibility to work in other departments and overtime as necessary to assist the company in meeting production goals.
* Liaise with design team and give input into new designs.
* Complete administrative tasks as required.
* Work from drawing without supervision.
* Report drawing errors.
Skills and Experience
* Proven knowledge and experience of Industrial Fabrication.
* Significant Industry exposure.
- 2 accreditation (in date)
* Knowledge of metal finishing techniques.
* Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, weld procedures and work instructions.
* Ability to recognise welding symbols and specifications.
* Be customer and results focused, have integrity, and be a proven team-player.
