Credit Control Assistant

Job Type : Full Time, Permanent

Location: Lancaster

Salary: £22,681 - £24,533 per annum .

The Role

Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because they are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of their three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for their region, nationally and internationally.

They are seeking someone to work in a busy finance department collecting payment from students, commercial and domestic clients. Prior skill and knowledge in credit control procedures and good cash collection practices is required. Experience in the Education sector is desirable but not essential. Applicants must be numerically proficient with good negotiating skills to collect payment in line with university regulations. A broad knowledge of IT is essential.

Key Responsibilities

* Following university payment terms monitor customer accounts for arrears.

* Ensure that customers are contacted, and payment obtained, or a plan agreed.

* Process card payments following payment industry standards and compliance.

* Safeguarding the payment systems, ensuring customers are aware of payment failures, inaccuracies and out of date personal information.

* Support the administration of accounts referred to the University external debt collection agency.

* Monitoring and documenting all communication e.g. emails, phone calls and face to face discussions.

* Ensure queries are signposted appropriately to coworkers and followed up when required.

* Provide administrative support to coworkers when required.

Additional Information:

You may on occasions and in line with operational needs

* Be required to work different hours including at weekends/evenings.

* Be required to travel to other campuses and sites as necessary.
